ORCC Halloween Contest 2003 Thursday, October 30, 2003 The Halloween “Spirits” of Orchard Ridge, 2003 By
Scott Peters
It was a cool, and crisp Halloween Eve, as the ORCC Halloween contest committee made its way into the night in search of the “Spirits” of the season. All along the streets they went to find those neighbors with their decorations out in full FRIGHT!!!!! As you look into the past, you may recall that Henry and Laverne Barica, Time and Linda Moore, Joe and Tina Fidele, and Mary Schiltz were winners in 2002. This year, the committee was spellbound with Aubrey and Mary Fowler on Lewon for 3rd place. Their “gang of ghosts” that adorned their tree was most impressive. As we moved cautiously along the streets we were confronted by the “Great Black Widow” of Black Oak Drive belonging to Mike and Beth Walsh. That spider has spun a web there many Halloweens, and its faithful companion, “Boneyard Billy” keeps watch from his coffin, and this display took our 2nd place vote. So in 1st place this year, we were again drawn to “the graves” provided by Linda and Tim Moore on Whitcomb drive. This seasonal collection of tell-tale tombstones, witches and ghosts, and The Moores will receive an ORCC $15 prize for their hair-raising haunts this season. Con “bat” tulations to all our neighbors making Halloween a safe, and wonderful time of year for all of us. PS…thanks again to Dot Kroeber and Ron Budziszewski for searching with me this All Hallo’s Eve.
